About Dr. Dawn Barker

Dr Dawn Barker holds a medical degree from the University of Aberdeen, UK. Following her early medical experience in the UK, she completed her psychiatric training in New South Wales and Western Australia. She was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and a Certificate of Advanced Training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry in 2008. Dr Barker was also the recipient of the RANZCP’s Maddison Medallion for the most meritorious performance during psychiatric training.

 

Dr Barker has experience working with children, adolescents and adults. After completing basic psychiatry training, she completed advanced training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry in 2008 before working as a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist at Princess Margaret Hospital for children. Since then, Dr Barker has worked in private clinical practice with children, adolescents and adults managing a wide range of mental health conditions.

 

Dr Barker is an Approved Medical Specialist for Workcover Permanent Impairment Assessments and has a wide experience in a wide variety of independent civil medicolegal assessments for both insurers and plaintiffs.  Since 2014, she has provided many occupational and medicolegal reports for a variety of agencies, providing expert opinions for work-related issues, motor vehicle accidents, and trauma and abuse cases.

 

Dr Barker is currently in clinical and medicolegal practice, as well as a Member of the Mental Health Tribunal of Western Australia and the Administrative Review Tribunal.
